Sense of Resistance for a Cursor Moved by User’s Keystrokes

چکیده
Haptic sensation of a material can be modulated by its visual appearance. A technique that utilizes this visual-haptic interaction is called as pseudo-haptic feedback. Conventional studies have investigated feedback in situations, wherein user manipulated virtual object using computer mouse, force-feedback device, etc. The present study whether and how it was possible to offer who keystrokes. Participants moved cursor toward destination pressing key. While the moving, temporarily slowed down on square area screen. participants’ task report, five-point scale, much resistance they felt cursor’s movement. In addition basic speed cursor, ratio within varied. Experiment 1, we found these two factors interacted significantly with each other, but further analysis showed most important determinant perceived resistance. 2, consistent results previous experiment, movement outside not required generate sense Counterintuitively, 3, apparent even without user’s We discuss for keystrokes triggered visually, interpreted brain haptic impression.

Electromyogram-Based Cursor Control System for Users with Motor Disabilities
An improved hands-free cursor control system suitable for use by individuals with spinal dysfunction or spinal cord injury is introduced. The system uses electromyogram (EMG) signals from facial muscles to produce five distinct cursor actions, namely: left, right, up, down and left-click. The new system is derived from a system previously created by our group. Object selection tests are perform...

Major depression (MD) is a common and debilitating condition. To expand knowledge on adjunctive treatment perspectives, this thesis explores a physical therapy approach in the treatment of MD. Specifically, in five studies, the thesis aims to: I) examine the quality of evidence for exercise in the treatment of MD; II) explore depression as an embodied phenomenon; III) evaluate the effects of ad...
متن کاملDetecting Users' Psychological States through Mouse Cursor Movements
Behavioral research in information systems is testing increasingly complex models using sophisticated statistical methodologies. As the inputs into these models are often unobservable constructs, they are subject to various biases such as social desirability or demand effects. Responding to such problems, IS researchers have recently turned to the use of psychophysiological tools to get a deepe...
متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
